Alright, let’s talk about them internet folks in Rye, New York. You know, the ones that give you that there internet stuff. Folks always askin’ me, “Who’s good? Who’s bad?” Well, I ain’t no fancy expert, but I hear things, you know? Gossip travels fast in these parts, faster than a rooster chasing a hen, I tell ya.
Who’s the Big Shot in Rye?
Seems like Verizon is the big man ’round here. They got all sorts of stuff, fiber, DSL, and that newfangled 5G. Says they cover pretty much the whole town, like 90% of it. That’s a lot, even for a hen house. Folks seem to like ’em alright, but you know how it is, some folks always complainin’. Says they’re fast, but I reckon fast is different for everyone. My grandson says his video games work good though.
Other Names I Hear
- Optimum: Heard that name a few times. Don’t know much about ‘em though.
- Honest Networks: Now, that name sounds good, don’t it? Hope they live up to it.
- Westnet, George’s Wireless Cable, Lions Bears, WAN Excel, Sound Impressions, Polar Tech, IV Support: Too many names for this old lady to remember! They must be smaller fellas, not as big as Verizon. I can’t keep track of everyone comin’ and goin’.
Seems like there’s a whole bunch of these internet fellas, maybe 10 or even 12, depending on who you ask. They all say they’re the best, of course. Like them fellas sellin’ snake oil at the county fair, always promisin’ the moon and the stars.
What About That Speed and Price?
Now, everyone wants the fastest internet, right? And they don’t wanna pay a whole lot for it. That’s understandable. Money don’t grow on trees, you know. I hear some folks payin’ through the nose for that fancy fiber stuff. Others get the cheaper stuff, and it’s slower. Kinda like my old tractor, it gets the job done, but it ain’t gonna win no races. My son-in-law, bless his heart, tried to explain all that ‘bandwidth’ and ‘gigabyte’ stuff to me. My eyes just glazed over. All I know is, you gotta compare the prices and see what you can afford. And don’t let them smooth-talkin’ salesmen fool ya!
How to Choose?
Well, that’s the million-dollar question, ain’t it? First off, see what’s available at your place. Not everyone gets all the choices, you see. Then, think about what you need the internet for. Just checkin’ emails and lookin’ at pictures of the grandkids? Or you streamin’ them movies and playin’ them video games? That makes a difference. And, like I said, think about your wallet. Don’t go spendin’ your whole retirement check on the internet!
Some Folks Say…
My neighbor, bless her heart, she’s always got somethin’ to say. She told me her internet was slow, so she got herself one of them “WiFi Analyzers”. Said it showed her all the other folks’ WiFi signals stealin’ her speed. Like a bunch of noisy crows at a bird feeder, I guess. She fiddled around with some settings, and now she says it’s better. But like I said, these things change all the time. Your neighbor might switch to another provider or get a faster plan, then you’re back to square one. It’s like whack-a-mole, always chasing the best deal.
The Best of the Best?
Now, some fancy folks did a survey, they say. Asked a bunch of people who they liked best. Said Starlink, Google Fiber, T-Mobile, Xfinity, and Verizon were the top dogs. But most of them ain’t even here in Rye, so it don’t matter much to us. We gotta deal with what we got.
So, there you have it. That’s all I know about them internet providers in Rye. It ain’t much, but it’s honest. You gotta do your homework, compare prices and speeds, and see what works best for you. And don’t be afraid to ask your neighbors, they might know a thing or two. Just remember, everyone’s got a different story, and what works for one person might not work for another. Good luck, and may your internet be fast and your bills be low!
