Okay, so, picture this: I finally got my hands on a new car, right? And it’s got all the bells and whistles, including Android Auto. I was super pumped to use it because I heard it was like my phone on a big screen, making it easy to navigate, play music, and make calls.
But man, it’s been a real pain in the butt. Every time I connect my phone, it works for a bit, and then bam! It disconnects. Sometimes it’s a few minutes, sometimes it’s longer, but it’s always the same story. It’s driving me nuts!
First things first, I tried different USB cables. I dug through my drawer and found a bunch, some old, some new. I thought maybe the cable that came with my phone was busted. No luck. The problem kept happening no matter which cable I used.
Then I messed with the Bluetooth settings. I made sure my phone and car were paired correctly. I even unpaired them and paired them again, hoping that would magically fix things. Nope. Still disconnecting.
I started wondering if it was my Wi-Fi. I made sure it was turned on, turned it off, turned it back on. I even stood on one leg and spun around three times while I was doing it, just in case it was some weird signal thing. Spoiler alert: that didn’t work either.
Next, I decided to dive into the Android Auto settings on my phone. I found a section called “Previously connected cars” and there was a button that said, “Forget all cars.” I figured, why not? Maybe clearing out the old connections would help. I pressed it, held my breath, and plugged my phone back into the car.
Guess what? It actually worked! Well, sort of. It still disconnected a couple of times, but it was way less frequent. I felt like I was onto something.
- Tried different USB cables.
- Messed with Bluetooth settings.
- Checked Wi-Fi connection.
- Reset Android Auto connections by using “Forget all cars.”
But I didn’t stop there. I figured maybe the Android Auto app itself was the problem. Maybe it needed an update or something. So, I went to the app store and checked for updates. It turned out there was a newer version available. I updated it, crossed my fingers, and tried again.
And wouldn’t you know it? That seemed to do the trick! I’ve been using it for a while now, and it hasn’t disconnected once. I’m finally able to enjoy my music and get directions without wanting to throw my phone out the window. Finally, I could make my phone play music and show me where to go without freaking out.
I still don’t know exactly what was causing the problem in the first place. Maybe it was a combination of things. But I’m just glad it’s working now. And this AutoMate and AutoZen, sounds like a similar thing, I will try them next time.
If any of you guys run into the same problem, hopefully, my little adventure will give you some ideas on how to fix it. If I were you, I would try updating the app first, and then “forget all cars”.
It’s a pretty bumpy ride, but hey, that’s tech for you, right?
