Yesterday, I felt like making something hearty and cheesy, so I decided to make Guinness Mac and Cheese. I had never tried it before, but it sounded delicious, and I was up for a little culinary adventure.
First, I gathered all the ingredients. I needed elbow macaroni, butter, flour, milk, Guinness beer, shredded cheddar cheese, shredded Gruyere cheese, mustard powder, garlic powder, salt, and pepper. I made sure I had everything ready to go before I started cooking.
I started by cooking the macaroni according to the package directions. While the pasta was cooking, I got started on the cheese sauce. In a large saucepan, I melted the butter over medium heat. Then, I whisked in the flour and cooked it for a minute until it was all bubbly and golden.
Next, I slowly poured in the milk and Guinness beer while whisking constantly to prevent lumps. I brought the mixture to a simmer and let it cook for a few minutes until it started to thicken.
Once the sauce had thickened, I removed it from the heat and stirred in the shredded cheddar and Gruyere cheese until it was completely melted and smooth. It smelled so good already! Then, I added in the mustard powder, garlic powder, salt, and pepper, mixing everything together.
By this time, the macaroni was done, so I drained it and added it to the cheese sauce. I stirred everything together until the macaroni was evenly coated in that delicious, cheesy goodness.
Finally, I poured the mac and cheese into a baking dish and baked it in the oven at 375 degrees for about 20 minutes, until it was bubbly and golden brown on top.
The Result
- The mac and cheese turned out amazing!
- The Guinness gave it a unique, slightly bitter flavor that complemented the cheesy sauce perfectly.
- It was rich, creamy, and so satisfying.
I will definitely be making this Guinness Mac and Cheese again. It was a fun and easy recipe to follow, and the results were absolutely delicious. If you’re looking for a new twist on classic mac and cheese, I highly recommend giving this one a try!
