So, today, I’m going to walk you through this thing I did with an RMC StoreOnce plugin for SAP HANA on Linux PPC. It was a bit of a headache at first, but I figured it out.
First off, I got this plugin from somewhere, let’s just say it was from a friend. I copied it over to the server I was working with. Easy enough, right?
Then, I had to unpack this thing. It was all compressed in some format, so I used some command-line magic to get the actual files out. I felt like a hacker for a second there, tapping away at the keyboard.
Next up, installation. This part was a bit tricky. I ran the installer, and it asked me a bunch of questions about where to put things and what settings to use. I just went with the defaults, honestly. Who has time to read all that stuff?
- Configuring the plugin was the next step. This is where it got interesting.
- I had to edit some configuration files to make sure the plugin knew where my SAP HANA database was.
- I messed up a couple of times, putting in the wrong paths and stuff. It was a bit of trial and error, but I eventually got it right.
After that, I had to restart a bunch of services. You know, the usual stuff to make sure everything is talking to each other properly. I held my breath and hoped for the best.
Testing the plugin
I used the SAP HANA Studio to try it out. I did a backup and restore, fingers crossed the whole time. And guess what? It worked! I was so relieved. I even did a little happy dance in my chair.
So yeah, that’s pretty much it. It wasn’t the smoothest ride, but I managed to get this RMC StoreOnce plugin working with SAP HANA. Now I can back up and restore my database like a pro. Or at least, that’s what I tell myself.
I just wanted to share my experience and it really took me a lot of time. Hopefully, it helps someone else out there who’s struggling with the same thing. Trust me, if I can do it, you can too!
