Okay, today I messed around with something called “*.basic” on my phone. I don’t know what it really is, but after searching on the Internet I knew that it is related to screen saver.
First, I went to the Settings on my phone, and I found the Display. I tapped it, and I saw an option called Screen saver or something similar. I went in there, and it showed me a list of different screen savers.
I found one named “*.basic.” I didn’t know what it would do, but I was curious, so I selected it. Then, I saw an option to preview it, so I tapped that to see what it looked like.
- It showed a black screen.
- Then, some colorful shapes started floating around.
- The shapes were moving slowly.
I thought it looked pretty cool, so I decided to set it as my screen saver. Now, whenever my phone is idle and charging, it displays those floating shapes. It’s not super exciting, but it’s better than just a blank screen.
After that, I tried to change some settings for the screen saver. I went back to the Screen saver menu, and I tapped the settings icon next to “*.basic.” I played around with the options there, like changing the colors of the shapes or how fast they move. And after I customized the settings I think it looks even better now.
So yeah, that’s how I set up the “*.basic” screen saver on my phone. It was a simple process, and it’s a nice little feature to have.
Some thoughts
I thought it was neat. But I don’t know if it really saves that much power or anything. The things still floating around, I mean. Still, it’s a little something different for your phone. And it’s pretty easy to set up, so if you’re bored, maybe give it a shot.
Later I realized that this screen saver seems only work when your phone is charging. I tried to find an option to turn it on whenever the screen is off, but I didn’t see anything like that. It’s kind of a bummer, but not a big deal I think.
Final words
Well, that was my little adventure with “*.basic.” I’m not an expert or anything, but I just wanted to share my experience. I don’t know, maybe it’ll give you an idea of what it’s like. It was just a fun little thing to try out. And it made me feel like I had a slightly more interesting phone, I guess.
