Today, I messed around with a new gadget – an Android box called Elliview. It’s like one of those things that can turn your regular TV into a smart TV. I got my hands on it this morning and spent the whole afternoon playing with it.
First, I unboxed it. Inside, there was the box itself, a remote control, an HDMI cable, and a power adapter. Pretty standard stuff. I connected the box to my old TV using the HDMI cable, then plugged in the power adapter.
Once everything was hooked up, I turned on the TV and switched to the right HDMI input. The Elliview logo popped up, and it started booting. It took a couple of minutes, but then I landed on the home screen.
The interface looked pretty clean and easy to navigate. It had all the usual apps like Netflix, YouTube. I decided to test out a few. I opened Netflix, logged in, and started browsing. Picked a random show and hit play. It streamed smoothly, no buffering or anything.
- Tried out YouTube next.
- Searched for some music videos.
- Everything played fine there too.
I also checked out some of the other apps that were pre-installed. There was a bunch of free stuff like Haystack News, Plex, Pluto TV, and Tubi. I browsed around and found there was tons of free content on those.
Then I wanted to see what else I could do with this thing. I went into the settings and started exploring. There were options for connecting to Wi-Fi, adjusting the display, and a whole lot more. I played around with the settings for a while, just to see what everything did.
After that, I decided to install some more apps. I headed over to the app store, which had a pretty good selection. I downloaded a few games and some other streaming apps that I use a lot. Installed them without any issues.
My Impression
Overall, I’m pretty impressed with the Elliview Android box. It’s a simple and affordable way to make your old TV smarter. You can easily stream your favorite shows and movies, play games, and even browse the internet. It’s definitely something I’d recommend if you’re looking for a way to upgrade your TV without spending a lot of money.
