Well now, let me tell ya, this here BDO game, sometimes it acts up somethin’ fierce. You know, like a mule that just don’t wanna plow straight. You’re sittin’ there, tryin’ to enjoy yourself, whackin’ monsters or tradin’ goods, and all of a sudden, it starts jumpin’ around like a frog on a hot skillet.
And the funny thing is, your internet, it seems just fine! You can watch them videos on that there YouTube, smooth as butter. You can check your email, send messages to your grandkids, no problem at all. But that BDO, it’s laggin’ somethin’ awful.
So, what’s a body to do? First thing, don’t go throwin’ your computer out the window just yet. There’s a few things you can try, even if you ain’t no fancy computer whiz.
First off, you might wanna mess with them picture settings in the game. You know, them fancy graphics they talk about. If your computer’s old like me, it might be chokin’ on all them pretty pictures. Turn ’em down a bit, make it look a little plainer. Might not be as purdy, but it’ll run smoother, like a well-oiled wagon wheel.
- Turn down the resolution, make the picture smaller.
- Turn off them fancy effects, like the shinin’ and the reflections. You don’t need all that glitter to enjoy the game.
- Set the game to “performance mode” if it has one. That’s like tellin’ your computer to focus on runnin’ the game fast, not lookin’ pretty.
Second thing you can do is check your internet settings, even though you think it’s fine. Sometimes, them computers have little hidden settings that mess things up.
Go to that “Internet Options” thingy on your computer. I ain’t exactly sure where it is, but my grandson showed me once. Look for somethin’ called “LAN Settings” and make sure nothin’s checked off that shouldn’t be. Sometimes, them things can slow down your connection to the game, even if everything else seems okay.
Another thing folks talk about is somethin’ called “bandwidth.” Now, I ain’t sure what that is exactly, but it sounds like how much water you can get through a pipe. If that “bandwidth” is too low, the game’s gonna choke, like a thirsty cow at an empty trough. Make sure you got a good internet plan, not one of them cheap ones.
And then there’s this “ping” thing. Sounds like a noise a bell makes, but it ain’t. It’s how long it takes for your computer to talk to the game server. If that “ping” is too high, that’s when you get that lag, that jumpin’ and stutterin’. There ain’t much you can do about that, ‘cept complain to your internet company, or maybe try a different server if the game lets you.
Sometimes, it ain’t nothin’ you did wrong. Sometimes, it’s the game itself. They do these “updates,” you know, like fixin’ a fence, but sometimes they break somethin’ else in the process. If a whole bunch of folks are complainin’ about lag after an update, then you know it ain’t just you. You just gotta wait for them to fix it, like waitin’ for the rain to stop so you can go back to the fields.
So, there you have it. A few things you can try if that there BDO game is laggin’ on ya. Don’t give up too easy. Sometimes, you just gotta jiggle the handle a bit to get things workin’ right again.
Remember, even if you ain’t a computer expert, you can still try these things. Just take it slow, and don’t be afraid to ask for help if you need it. And if all else fails, well, there’s always checkers!
