Alright, listen up, gonna tell ya about this thing, the best whatchamacallit for movies on that Linux thingy. People keep jabberin’ about it, so I figured I’d take a look.
So, there’s this thing called VLC Media Player. Sounds fancy, huh? Don’t let that fool ya. It’s just a thing for watchin’ them movies on your computer. They say it’s the best, been around since forever, like 2001 or somethin’. That’s a long time, even for my old bones!
- Works on all sorts of gizmos, not just that Linux thing. Phones, computers, the whole shebang.
- You can make it look pretty with “skins” they call ’em. Like dressin’ up a doll, I reckon.
- Plays all sorts of movies, even them DVD things and those newfangled internet movies.
Now, they say this VLC thing is real popular. Guess folks like it. Must be good if everyone’s usin’ it, right? My grandkid says it can even play those YouTube videos. Ain’t that somethin’? He showed me how you can speed ’em up or slow ’em down. Why you’d wanna slow down a movie is beyond me, but kids these days!
Another thing they talk about is MPV. Says it’s the best too, even better than VLC. Honestly, I can’t tell the difference. They both play movies just fine. MPV lets you do fancy things with them words at the bottom of the screen, somethin’ about subtitles. And you can push buttons on your keyboard to make it do things. I ain’t got time for all that fiddle-faddle, just wanna watch my stories.
They say this VLC thing plays all sorts of movie files. All them letters and numbers, MPEG and whatnot. Don’t mean a thing to me, long as it plays my stories. And it does! Watched that one with the handsome fella yesterday. What was it called? Oh, nevermind. Point is, the picture looked real nice.
Now, this MPV thing can do somethin’ with YouTube, just like VLC. My grandkid was talkin’ about it. You can watch videos from the internet right there. Handy, I suppose, if you like watchin’ things on that computer screen. Me, I like a big TV, somethin’ I can see from across the room.
They also say you can take pictures from the movie with both these things. Like a snapshot. Why you’d want a picture of a movie is beyond me, but I guess folks like it. My grandkid’s always takin’ pictures with his phone. Kids these days!
So, there ya have it. VLC and MPV, both good for watchin’ movies on that Linux thing. Which one’s the best? Beats me. They both seem to do the job just fine. You pick whichever one tickles your fancy. Me, I’m gonna go watch my stories. And don’t you forget to eat your vegetables!
