Well now, let me tell ya ’bout this thing, this…motorcycle android auto thingy, they call it DMD2. Sounds fancy, don’t it? But it ain’t that hard to understand, even for an old gal like me.
What’s this DMD2 all about?
See, it’s like a… a fancy dashboard for your motorcycle. You stick your phone on there, and this DMD2 thing makes it all big and easy to see. Like them big ol’ tractors them young fellas drive now, all computerized and whatnot. This DMD2, it’s kinda like that, but for your bike.
It’s supposed to be real good for motorcycle folks, you know, the ones that like to ride around all over the place. They say it’s a “launcher application”, whatever that means. Sounds like it launches you right into the middle of nowhere, if you ask me!
- It’s got maps and stuff: You know, so you don’t get lost. Like them old paper maps, but on your phone, and bigger. And it talks to ya, tells ya where to turn and all that. Pretty slick, I gotta say.
- GPX files? Who knew?: These young folks and their fancy words. GPX files, they call ’em. Apparently, it’s like drawin’ a line on a map, and the DMD2 follows it. Good for them adventure types, I guess. Ridin’ through the woods and whatnot.
- It don’t need much: Just a phone with a screen you can touch, and that internet thingy to download maps. Oh, and that Bluetooth and GPS stuff. Most phones got that now, so it ain’t a big deal.
- Free as the wind: Well, mostly. The app itself, it don’t cost ya nothin’. You can just put it on your phone and go. But them maps and stuff, I ain’t sure about that. Probably gotta pay for some of it, I reckon. Nothin’s truly free in this world, you know.
Why’s everyone so hot on this DMD2?
Well, I hear tell it’s got over 100,000 folks usin’ it. That’s a whole lotta people! Must be somethin’ special ’bout it. They say it’s made by some folks called THORK RACING. Sounds like them fellas like to go fast!
Now, I ain’t never used one of these fancy motorcycle gadgets myself. I’m more of a “point the bike and go” kinda gal. But from what I hear, this DMD2 thing is real handy for them young folks that like to ride around with their phones and their maps and all that jazz. It makes ridin’ safer and easier, they say. Keeps you from gettin’ lost and lets you focus on the road. Which is important, I reckon. Nothin’ worse than endin’ up in a ditch somewhere, with a dead phone and no idea where you are.
Is this DMD2 thing worth gettin’?
Well, that depends on you, don’t it? If you’re like me, and you just ride around town, maybe you don’t need it. But if you’re one of them adventure types, always goin’ off on long rides, then it might be just the ticket. It’s free to try, so what’ve you got to lose?
And remember, it ain’t rocket science. Even an old gal like me can understand the basics of it. It’s just a fancy dashboard for your motorcycle, to help you get where you’re goin’. And in this day and age, with all them cars and trucks zoomin’ around, a little help can’t hurt, can it? So go on, give it a try. Maybe you’ll like it. And if you don’t, well, you can always just go back to the old-fashioned way, like me. Just point the bike and go.
But I gotta say, this whole “motorcycle android auto” thing sounds kinda neat. Maybe I’ll ask my grandson to show me how it works. He’s always fiddlin’ with his phone, that boy. Maybe he can teach this old dog some new tricks.
Anyways, that’s about all I know about this DMD2 thing. Hope it helps ya. And remember, be safe out there on them roads. Them cars are gettin’ bigger and faster every day. And don’t forget to wear your helmet. Even if it messes up your hair!
