Alright, listen up, y’all. This here game, this “Bioshock 2 Remastered,” it’s been givin’ folks a heap of trouble. Keeps crashin’ and freezin’ up, like a rusty old tractor in the winter. People are gettin’ real steamed, and I don’t blame ’em one bit. Spend good money on a game, you expect it to work, right?
So, what’s the deal with all this crashin’?
Well, first off, some folks say it’s ’cause the game ain’t got permission to do what it needs to do. Like it’s a kid tryin’ to drive the car without askin’ the grown-ups. They say you gotta run the game as the boss, you know, the “administrator.” That’s like givin’ it the keys and sayin’, “Go on, do your thing.” To do that, you gotta find where the game’s hidin’ on your computer. If you got that Steam thingy, it’s a little easier, but still a pain in the neck if you ask me.
- Find the game files.
- Right-click on the game’s “exe” file, the one that starts the whole shebang.
- Click on that “Run as administrator” thing.
That might fix it, might not. Computers are fickle beasts, you know.
Another thing folks are complainin’ about is this “DirectX 10” stuff. Sounds fancy, but it’s just somethin’ that makes the game look purdy. But sometimes, bein’ too purdy ain’t a good thing. It can make the game use up too much of your computer’s brainpower, and then, BAM! Crash city. Now, you could turn that DirectX 10 thing off completely, but some folks say there’s a better way. They say you can just tell the game not to be so greedy with the memory. It’s like tellin’ a hog not to eat all the slop at once. You got to find this “TextureStreamingMemoryLimit” thing and change it from “256” to “2048.” Sounds complicated, but it’s just changin’ a number, like fixin’ the price on a can of beans.
But why does it crash so much, anyway?
Well, from what I hear, this remastered version, the one they made all shiny and new, it had some problems right from the get-go. Bugs, they call ’em. Little critters that mess things up. Some of these bugs were so bad, they’d eat your saved games, like a dog chewin’ up your slippers. They’d change all your settin’s back to how they were when you first got the game, which is mighty aggravatin’. And of course, they’d make the game crash, especially when you’re in the middle of somethin’ important, like fightin’ off those creepy splicers.
Now, some folks say it crashes a lot in this place called “Siren Alley.” Sounds like a dangerous place to me, what with sirens and all. Maybe that’s why the game can’t handle it. It’s like tryin’ to herd a bunch of chickens in a hurricane – things just go haywire.
And it seems like the crashin’ happens a lot when you’re fightin’. You know, when things are gettin’ hectic. Bullets flyin’, splicers screamin’, water leakin’ everywhere. That’s when the game just gives up the ghost and decides it’s had enough. Maybe it’s just tired, like me after a long day of hoein’ the garden.
So, what can you do about it?
Well, besides runnin’ it as the boss and fiddlin’ with them memory settings, you can make sure your computer ain’t runnin’ on old, tired parts. Those “drivers,” they call ’em, they gotta be up to date, like makin’ sure your tractor has enough oil. If they’re old and dusty, the game might not work right. So, go on and update them drivers, see if that helps.
Other than that, I don’t know what to tell ya. Sometimes, these games are just plain stubborn. Like a mule that won’t budge. You just gotta keep tryin’ different things, or maybe wait for them game makers to fix it up themselves. In the meantime, maybe just go outside and get some fresh air. Plant some tomatoes. Chase some chickens. Life’s too short to be fussin’ over a crashin’ game all day.
And one more thing, if you’re still havin’ trouble, go on and ask them folks on the internet. They seem to know everything about everything. Just be careful, some of them are a bit strange. But that’s a story for another day.
