com.samsung.android.app.dressroom: Is It Safe or a Virus?

Alright, let me tell ya ’bout this… this… “*.*” thingamajig. Sounds fancy, don’t it? Like somethin’ them city folks would jabber about. But don’t you worry none, I’ll break it down for ya simple-like.

So, first off, this “dressroom” thing? It’s on them Samsung phones, see? Them fancy gadgets everyone’s got nowadays. Appears it’s got somethin’ to do with…fashion? Yep, like them clothes and such. Don’t ask me why they call it a “dressroom” though. Sounds like a place you’d hang your Sunday best, not some phone thingy.

Now, I hear tell it’s made by Samsung itself. You know, that big company that makes all them TVs and such. So, it ain’t some fly-by-night operation, I reckon. Seems they made this “dressroom” app and stuck it right on their phones.

And what’s it do, you ask? Well, from what I gather, it helps you with… with… lookin’ at clothes and stuff, maybe tryin’ ’em on… virtually, like. You know, like them paper dolls we used to play with, but all fancy and on a phone. Can you believe it? Kids these days got it easy.

• Safe to use? Folks say it is. Ain’t no virus or nothin’, far as I know. Samsung made it, so it should be alright. But you always gotta be careful with these things, you know? Don’t go clickin’ on everythin’ you see.
• What’s with the “*.app” part? That’s just fancy talk for tellin’ the phone what it is. Like a label on a jar, see? “Com” means company, “samsung” is, well, Samsung, “android” is the phone thingy, and “app” means it’s an app. And “dressroom”? That’s the name, simple as that.
• Can you get rid of it? Maybe, maybe not. Some folks say you can, some say you can’t. Depends on the phone, I guess. If it ain’t botherin’ ya, I’d say just leave it be. Don’t go messin’ with things you don’t understand, that’s what I always say.

Now, they talk about this other thing, this “TelephonyUI”. Sounds complicated, don’t it? But it’s just the thing that pops up when someone calls ya. You know, the thing you press to answer or hang up. It’s got nothin’ to do with the “dressroom” directly but it’s on the same phone so I figure I’d mention it. It’s part of the whole phone package, see? Like the engine and the wheels of a car.

And then there’s this “smartcapture” thing. Don’t rightly know what that is, but it’s got “Samsung” and “app” in the name too, so I figure it’s another one of them phone thingies. Maybe it takes pictures? Or maybe it captures… smarts? Who knows with these city folk and their fancy gadgets. Samsung SmartCapture sounds like somethin’ for takin’ pictures to me.

So, there you have it. This “*.*” in plain ol’ English. It’s a fashion app on your Samsung phone, made by Samsung, safe to use, and probably does a whole lot of things I don’t understand. But if you got a Samsung phone and you like messin’ with clothes, maybe it’s somethin’ you’d enjoy. Me? I’ll stick to my good ol’ needle and thread, thank you very much.

Just remember, don’t go downloadin’ anythin’ from folks you don’t trust, and don’t go clickin’ on everythin’ you see. That’s how you get in trouble with these things. And if it ain’t broke, don’t fix it. That’s the best advice I can give ya.
