Okay, so, I’ve been messing around with this Delta emulator on my iPhone, you know, the one that lets you play old-school games? It’s pretty cool, but I got kinda bored with the standard controller skins. They’re alright, but, like, nothing special.
So, I thought, “Why not try making my own skins?” Turns out, it’s totally doable! Delta was designed to make custom skins easy for everyone to produce.
I went on this little adventure to find where these skins were. I got the emulator itself no problem, but the skins, that was a bit of a treasure hunt. I went to the community, and saw many people made great skins. It inspired me a lot!
First, I tried downloading some skins made by other people. I found this community online, full of Delta users sharing their creations. They had all sorts of designs, from retro to super modern. Downloading them was a breeze, seriously, just a few taps. After I got the files, I just had to open them in the Files app on my phone, and boom, they were imported into Delta. Super simple, even I could do it.
But then I got ambitious. I wanted to make my OWN skin. Like, from scratch. I did some digging and found out that you can actually design these skins yourself. I got a new color for my skin. Just to try.
- Step one: I place cursor over the Level Tool window and push a right-mouse-button.
- Step two: I select the Switch to Colors option. Alternatively, I hit the [C] key or mouse-wheel.
- Step three: I select color of my choice.
- Step four: I click the [+] button to apply the color.
After that, I went to delta settings, choose the correct platform under the controller skin, then click the default landscape skin.
And, just like that, I had my custom skin! It wasn’t perfect, but it was mine. Now, whenever I fire up some retro goodness on my phone, I get to do it with a controller that’s got my own personal touch. Pretty neat, right?
