Okay, so, I’ve been wanting to make this MAC 10 magazine for a while now, you know, just to see if I could. I finally got around to it, and let me tell you, it was a bit of a journey.
First things first, I needed to gather all the materials. The main thing is this 1-inch by 2-inch steel box section. Sounds simple enough, right? Well, I had to cut it down, modify it a bit. I basically shortened it to 25mm by 43mm. Had to widen it out just a tiny bit, too, so it would fit everything properly. It wasn’t too bad, just a bit of cutting and shaping with my tools.
I did some digging online, you know, just browsing around for some help. Found some old forum posts and some guides from a guy called Professor Parabellum or something. Volume 6 of his guides, yeah that was it, was all about building a MAC-10. That was a pretty cool find, helped me figure out some of the trickier parts. There were also some PDF files floating around, like, blueprints and stuff. I’m not even sure where they came from originally, but they showed some detailed drawings of the MAC-10 parts. I downloaded them, you never know when they might come in handy.
Honestly, the whole process was kind of like putting together a puzzle, but with metal and tools. I spent a good few days on it, just measuring, cutting, and fitting things together. There were a few times I messed up and had to redo a part. Oh boy, let me tell you, that was frustrating. But I kept at it, you know, learning as I went.
Here’s a breakdown of the main steps I took:
- Started with the steel box section, which I measured and marked carefully.
- Then I used my saw to cut it down to the size I needed.
- After that, I carefully widened it out just a bit using some pliers.
- There were other smaller pieces I had to make, too, using scraps of metal I had lying around. I followed the drawings I found as best as I could.
- Once I had all the pieces, I started fitting them together, which was kind of like a 3D puzzle.
- And finally, after a lot of trial and error, it all came together.
In the end, I managed to make a pretty decent replica of the MAC 10 magazine. It’s not perfect, mind you, but it looks the part. It was a cool project, and I learned a lot along the way. It just goes to show that with a little bit of patience and some basic tools, you can make some pretty neat stuff. I’m pretty proud of how it turned out, and I might even try to make some other parts in the future. Who knows, maybe one day I’ll have a whole collection!
