Alright, let’s talk about this Valorant thing, eh? My grandson keeps pestering me about it, says I gotta fix his computer so he can play. Somethin’ about “bios settings” or whatever. Sounds fancy, but I bet it ain’t nothin’ a good ol’ fashioned look-see can’t fix.
First thing’s first, gotta turn on the dang computer, right? He says I gotta press some buttons when it starts up. ESC, F1, F2, F8, F10… Lands sakes, that’s a whole lotta buttons! Seems like every computer is different, you know? Just gotta keep pressin’ ’em till somethin’ pops up. Like lookin’ for a good watermelon, gotta thump a few ‘fore you find a ripe one.
Okay, now we’re in somethin’ called the “BIOS.” Looks all complicated, with words I ain’t never seen before. But my grandson, he told me what to look for. Somethin’ about “security,” he says. Yeah, that’s important. Gotta keep them darn hackers outta here. Always causin’ trouble, those city slickers.
- First, we gotta find somethin’ called “Security Device Support.” Sounds important, right? Gotta enable that, whatever it means. And then somethin’ about “TPM.” TPM switch, he says. Sounds like a light switch, flip it on!
- Then, gotta go back to some “Advanced” somethin’ or other. Find “Windows OS Configuration.” Honestly, these city folks and their fancy words! Just sayin’ it plain is too hard for ‘em, I guess.
- Now, this is important, he says. Gotta change the “BIOS mode” to “UEFI.” Don’t ask me what that means, but it sounds important. My grandson says it’s like changin’ the tires on a tractor, gotta get the right ones or it won’t run right.
- And finally, gotta “enable secure boot.” Secure boot, huh? Sounds like lockin’ the barn door at night, keepin’ the varmints out. That’s somethin’ I understand.
Alright, now he says I gotta “save the changes” and “restart.” Sounds easy enough. Just like bakin’ a cake, gotta put it in the oven and let it bake. Hopefully, this all works. My grandson gets real cranky when he can’t play his games. Says somethin’ about “Vanguard” and “anti-cheat.” Sounds like he’s worried about people cheatin’ in his game. Kids these days, always worried about fairness. Back in my day, we just played fair and square, no fancy computers needed.
He also mentioned somethin’ about “TPM 2.0.” Said it’s like a special lock on the computer, keeps the bad guys out. And this “Secure Boot,” it’s like a guard dog, makin’ sure nobody sneaks in. Seems like they’re really serious about keepin’ things safe in this Valorant game. Well, I guess that’s a good thing. Nobody wants cheaters, right?
Now, I ain’t no computer whiz, but this all seems kinda important. My grandson says if you don’t have these settings right, the game won’t even start. Imagine that! Spendin’ all that money on a fancy game and then not bein’ able to play it. That’d make anyone madder than a wet hen.
And there’s somethin’ else he was jabberin’ about… Game Pass? Said you can play with all the characters unlocked or somethin’. And extra XP too. Sounds like a good deal, I guess. But I still don’t understand why he needs all these fancy settings just to play a game. Back in my day, we just played tag in the fields, and that was fun enough for us.
Anyway, after I changed all them settings and restarted the computer, my grandson came in and tried it out. He was all smiles and thank yous. Said I was the “best grandma ever.” Well, that’s nice to hear. Maybe these computers ain’t so bad after all. As long as they don’t start talkin’ back to me, we’ll get along just fine.
So, if you’re havin’ trouble with Valorant and them bios settings, just remember: find that security stuff, turn on TPM and Secure Boot, change the BIOS mode to UEFI, and save the changes. It ain’t rocket science, even an old gal like me can figure it out. And if you’re still stuck, just ask your grandson. They always seem to know these things.
