Okay, so, I’ve been messing around with this game called “Corruption of Champions” again recently. It’s…well, it’s a text-based adult RPG. But there’s a bunch of mods for it, and that’s where things get really interesting. I wanted to play it on my Android phone, and that’s where the trouble started.
First off, finding a good version of the game for Android wasn’t super easy. I finally found a zip file online, but it was just the base game, no mods. Which, you know, is fine, but the mods really add a lot.
Getting the Mods
The official forums have a whole section dedicated to mods, but they’re mostly for the PC version. So I dug around, looking for ones that might work on mobile. Eventually, I found a thread where people were talking about an “Unofficially Expanded Edition” or something like that. Sounded promising!
- Download: I grabbed a bunch of mods that sounded cool from various forum posts. Most of them were just text files, so I figured they might be compatible.
- Transfer: Zipped ’em up, then transferred them over to my phone. Easy enough.
- Unzip and Pray: Unzipped them into the game’s directory. This is where I started to sweat a little. Would it work?
The Struggle is Real
It did not, in fact, work. At least not at first. The game would load, but none of the mods seemed to be active. I messed around with the file structure, tried different mods, even tried recompiling with some tools (don’t even ask) – nothing.
Then I found a comment somewhere saying that image packs don’t work on Android. Apparently, the code needs to be rewritten to embed images directly into the game file, and I’m not a coder, so that was way beyond me. I started to lose hope to run this game on my phone.
A Glimmer of Hope
But then, digging even deeper, I stumbled upon a forum post from a user who had actually managed to get some mods working on Android. It involved renaming files, editing some config stuff. It was a mess, but I was desperate.
I followed their instructions to the letter, which took a few tries, I’ll admit. I moved the file to another directory, renamed the file, and so on.
Success! (Mostly)
And it worked! Well, mostly. Some of the mods are still buggy, and anything with images is a no-go. But the core gameplay changes and new content from the mods are there. I’m playing a modded version of “Corruption of Champions” on my Android. Finally!
It was a pain to get it working, but hey, now I can play it on the go. If anyone else is trying to do this, be prepared for some trial and error. And maybe learn to code, just in case.
