Well, I tell ya, this new-fangled thing, the iOS 18, it’s got some right pretty pictures, they call ’em wallpapers. My grandson, he’s always on that phone of his, showed me how to put a new one on my phone. Said it would make it look all nice and new, like a fresh coat of paint on an old barn. I ain’t never seen so many choices. Flowers, mountains, even pictures of the dang moon. Lord have mercy.
He said these wallpapers, they are special for this iOS 18 thing. Not like the old ones, he said. These new wallpapers are like, extra fancy. I don’t rightly know what’s so fancy about ’em, but they sure do look nice on my phone.
Changing Wallpaper Ain’t Hard
Now, you might think changing these wallpapers is hard, like trying to herd chickens in a windstorm. But it ain’t. My grandson, bless his heart, he showed me step-by-step. Even an old gal like me can do it.
First, you gotta press down on that screen, you know, the main one with all them little squares. Hold it down till they start wiggling like a worm on a hot tin roof. Then you gotta tap this thing that says “Edit”. Then “Customize”. It’s like magic, I tell ya.
- Press down on the home screen.
- Wait for the little squares to jiggle.
- Tap “Edit”.
- Tap “Customize”.
Now, if you ain’t got much juice left in your phone, you know, the battery’s low like a well in a drought, then you might not be able to use one of them fancy live wallpapers. Them’s the ones that move. They need a lot of juice to work, like a tractor needs gas. If your battery’s low, it’ll say “Low Power Mode” or something like that. Just like how we gotta save our energy when we get old, the phone’s gotta save its energy too. But I don’t like this mode, I want my iOS 18 wallpapers to move!
So Many Choices for iOS 18 Wallpapers
They got all kinds of iOS 18 wallpapers in there. Pictures of flowers, all colors and kinds. Reminds me of my old garden back in the day. I used to grow roses, big and red as a rooster’s comb. They even got pictures of landscapes, mountains and valleys. Makes you feel like you’re right there, even though you’re just looking at that little screen. I just like to have my wallpaper to be colorful, like my quilt.
There are these other kinds of wallpapers, they call ’em “Dark Mode.” My grandson, he likes those. Makes the whole screen dark, like the inside of a coal mine. Says it’s easier on the eyes. I reckon it is, but I like the bright ones. Makes me feel more cheerful. I don’t like dark, only good for sleep.
You can even use your own pictures as wallpaper. Like that one of my prize-winning pig, Bessie. She was a beauty, that one. Won me a blue ribbon at the county fair. Or that picture of my grandkids all lined up, grinning like possums. It’s like having a little piece of home right there on your phone. It’s wonderful, you can see your family every time you pick your phone. That is my favorite iOS 18 wallpaper.
Figuring It All Out
This whole phone thing, it’s a lot to take in. But I’m learning. Slowly but surely, like a tortoise crossing the road. My grandson, he’s patient with me. Shows me things over and over again. I reckon you’re never too old to learn new tricks, even if those tricks involve these newfangled iOS 18 wallpapers.
I still don’t understand half of what that boy says about these phones, but I do like them pretty pictures. Makes my old phone feel a little bit new, a little bit brighter. Like a fresh coat of paint, I told you. And who doesn’t like a little bit of pretty in their life?
So, if you got one of these phones, don’t be afraid to change up the wallpaper. It ain’t as hard as you might think. Just remember what I told ya. Press down, wait for the jiggle, tap “Edit”, then “Customize”. And if all else fails, just ask a young’un. They’ll know what to do. They’re born knowing, I swear. They are all the same.
And pick yourself a nice, bright wallpaper. One that makes you smile. Life’s too short for dull wallpapers, I always say. Even if it is an iOS 18 wallpaper. It’s just that new.
This new technology stuff is something else, ain’t it? Always changing, always something new. But I reckon that’s just the way of the world. Gotta keep up or get left behind. Even an old gal like me has to learn new things to keep this phone working.
