Aiyoo, that Windows 11 23H2, everyone be talkin’ ’bout it. They say it’s fancy, new stuff. But then they go and say, “Oh, your old computer, it ain’t good enough.” Hmph! Like my ol’ machine ain’t workin’ just fine. Been usin’ it for ages, does what I need. Now they tellin’ me it’s “unsupported” for this 23H2 thingamajig. What a load of hogwash!
But see, I ain’t one to back down. If they say my machine can’t, I say, “Hold my tea, I’ll show ya!” Figured there gotta be a way, right? Heard some youngsters talkin’ ’bout this “Rufus” thing. Sounds like a dog’s name, but they say it helps with puttin’ new Winders on old machines. So I went and got it, whatever it is.
Downloadin’ that Rufus
First, I went on the ‘net. You know, that Google thing? Typed in “Rufus” and found a place to get it. Clicked on “download” and waited. Took a while, that internet thing ain’t always fast in my neck of the woods. But eventually, it finished. Got the little file on my desktop.
Gettin’ that Windows thingy
Next, they say I need the “Windows 11 ISO.” Sounds like somethin’ you hang on the wall! But no, it’s a file, another big one. Went to Microsoft’s website, found where to get it. Took another long wait. These things are huge! Gotta be patient, I tell ya.
Stickin’ it on a stick
Then, they say I need a “USB flash drive.” One of them little stick thingies you plug in. Found one in the drawer, blew off the dust. Plugged it in, and started that Rufus program. It looked all complicated, lots of buttons and words. But I followed the instructions, picked the Windows file and the stick. Clicked on “start” and crossed my fingers.
It started doin’ its thing. Progress bar movin’ slowly. Made myself a cup of tea and waited. Took a long time, but finally it said “ready.” Pulled out the stick. That was the easy part, I guess.
Bootin’ and stuff
Now comes the tricky part, they said. Gotta “boot” from the stick. That means tellin’ the computer to start from the stick instead of the usual way. Restarted the machine, kept pressin’ some buttons they told me. F2, Del, Esc… somethin’ worked eventually. Got into a strange blue screen.
- Found somethin’ called “boot order” or somethin’ like that. Changed it to the USB stick. Saved and exited.
- Computer restarted again, this time from the stick! Windows logo popped up. Looked promising.
- Clicked through some screens, picked “custom install.” They say it’s better than “upgrade” for old machines.
Bypassin’ the checks
Now here’s where the magic happens, they said. When it checks for the “TPM” and “CPU,” gotta do some trickery. Pressed Shift + F10, a little black box popped up. Typed in “regedit” and hit enter. Another scary screen with lots of folders.
Folks say ya gotta find somethin’ called “LabConfig” and create some special keys. I ain’t tech-savvy, but I followed the instructions step-by-step. BypassTPMCheck, BypassSecureBootCheck, BypassRAMCheck… typed ’em all in and set the values. Closed everything and crossed my fingers again.
Finally, Windows!
And you know what? It worked! Windows 11 23H2 started installin’ on my “unsupported” machine. Took a while, but it finished. Now I got the new Windows, even though they said I couldn’t. Hah!
See, don’t let ’em tell ya what you can and can’t do. Sometimes, ya gotta find your own way. Even if you’re old like me, and the machine’s old too. We can still learn new tricks, eh?
