Well now, let me tell ya somethin’ about this McAfee thing, the one they say ya need for that Linux whatchamacallit. Folks keep talkin’ about it, so I figured I’d put in my two cents, ya know?
First off, they say Linux is different, not like them Windows machines everyone’s always fussin’ over. Windows, they got viruses all over the place, like flies on a hot summer day. So, everyone and their brother’s got some kinda antivirus thingy on there. But Linux, they say it’s tougher, like an old boot, ain’t so easy for them viruses to get in.
But listen here, even tough boots wear out, right? So, even that Linux thingy, it can still get sick, just like us old folks. And that’s where this McAfee comes in, or so they say.
- Now, some folks reckon you gotta pay for this McAfee stuff, especially if you got a bunch of them computer thingamajigs. But if you just got the one, they got a deal for ya, just for that one machine. Sounds kinda pricey to me, but what do I know? I ain’t made of money.
- They say this McAfee, it’s pretty good at catchin’ them nasty viruses. Tests and all that, they say it does a good job. Keeps your stuff safe, like a guard dog watchin’ your chickens. But some other folks, they say you don’t even need it, that Linux is strong enough on its own. Who to believe, huh? Makes my head spin.
- And then there’s this 加速器 thing with the McAfee. They say it keeps your stuff secret when you’re on that internet thingy. But it can slow things down, like tryin’ to run through mud. If your internet’s slow, they say turn it off, give it a minute. Sounds like a pain in the neck to me.
Some smarty-pants folks, they say there’s other stuff out there besides McAfee. Names I can barely pronounce, like Bit…defender and Kas…persky. They say those are free and just as good. And some even say that Microsoft, yeah, that big company, they got their own thing and it’s free too. Makes ya wonder why anyone would pay for McAfee, right?
And here’s the kicker, this McAfee, it ain’t even supposed to work on that Ubuntu thing, unless ya pay extra. Ubuntu? Sounds like some kinda jungle talk to me. But they say it’s part of Linux. Confusin’, ain’t it? It’s like tryin’ to herd chickens, they go every which way.
They also talk about other fancy names, like Sophos and Avast and ESET. Too many choices if you ask me. Makes my head hurt just thinkin’ about it. It’s like goin’ to the store and seein’ a hundred different kinds of beans, how ya gonna choose?
Now, some folks say this McAfee, it’s the best, protects everything and doesn’t slow your machine down. Sounds too good to be true, like them snake oil salesmen from back in the day. But then again, they say it’s good for all kinds of machines, not just that Linux thing, but those Windows machines and even those fancy Apple ones.
But then ya hear other things too. Like this McAfee, it’s okay for gettin’ rid of the bad stuff, but not so good at keepin’ it out in the first place. And it might not play nice with other antivirus things ya might have. It’s like havin’ two roosters in the hen house, they just gonna fight all the time.
So, what’s the bottom line here? Well, if you got that Linux thingy, maybe you need somethin’ to keep it safe, maybe you don’t. This McAfee, it might be good, it might not be. Seems like everyone’s got a different opinion. Me? I reckon it’s like lockin’ your door at night. Some folks do it, some folks don’t. It’s up to you to decide if it’s worth the trouble.
If you are using Linux for business maybe you need it, if not maybe not, it’s just up to you, like do you need to lock the door in a city? Maybe yes maybe no. If you are in country, yes you always need to lock the door, you know? It’s like that.
But one thing’s for sure, them computer folks, they sure like to make things complicated. Back in my day, things were simpler. You planted your crops, you took care of your animals, and you kept your doors locked. Now you gotta worry about viruses and 加速器s and all sorts of other nonsense. Makes ya wanna just sit on the porch and watch the world go by, ya know?
