Well, let me tell you about this little adventure I had trying to get forScore on my Android tablet. I’ve always heard great things about forScore, like how it’s got this super polished interface and a ton of features, but mostly from my Apple-using friends. They keep going on and on about organizing sheet music into setlists and whatnot. I thought, “Hey, I want in on that action too!” So, I decided to give it a shot.
First, I went straight to the source, the forScore website. I figured they’d have some info on an Android version, right? But guess what I found? They don’t make apps for any other platforms such as Windows or Android. Yep, you read that right. No forScore for Android. It’s all Apple, Apple, Apple. iPad this, iPhone that, even this new “Vision Pro” thingy. They also mentioned something about supported Macs, but that’s a whole different story.
Feeling a bit let down, I started digging around some more. I stumbled upon some articles talking about the best Android sheet music apps. I saw names like MobileSheets Pro, MuseScore, and Orpheus popping up. Turns out, there are a bunch of alternatives out there. Some folks even mentioned that MobileSheets, Newzik, and forScore are like the top three apps for musicians. Each has its own strengths, so it’s not like forScore is the only good one out there.
So, I gave MobileSheets a try, and you know what? It’s pretty darn good. I mean, it’s not exactly forScore, but it does the job. I can organize my scores, make annotations, all that good stuff. Still, a part of me wishes I could experience that “renowned” forScore interface everyone talks about.
- forScore is strictly an Apple thing. No Android love here.
- There are other solid sheet music apps for Android, like MobileSheets.
- Sometimes, you just gotta work with what you’ve got.
My takeaways from this whole thing are:
Anyways, that’s my little story about trying to get forScore on Android. It didn’t quite go as planned, but I learned a few things along the way. And who knows, maybe one day they’ll make an Android version. Until then, I’ll be over here happily using MobileSheets.
