Well, let me tell you, this here ImgBurn, it ain’t somethin’ I use much on my old computer. I heard it’s for them Linux things, which I don’t know much about. My grandson, he’s always talkin’ ’bout Linux this and Linux that. I just use my computer for lookin’ up recipes and keepin’ up with the grandkids on that Facebook thing. But he says this ImgBurn is somethin’ special, so I’ll tell ya what I’ve heard.
They say ImgBurn is used to burn things onto them discs. You know, like them CDs and DVDs. I remember when we used to burn music onto CDs. Now it’s all them Spotify and Apple Music things. Kids these days! Anyway, this ImgBurn, it’s supposed to be good for Linux ISO files. What’s an ISO file? I don’t rightly know. It’s like a picture of the whole disc, I reckon. Somethin’ like that.
My grandson, he tried to explain it to me once. He said somethin’ ’bout ImgBurn being a free program. That’s always good, right? Ain’t nobody got money to be spendin’ on fancy computer programs. He said it works on all them Windows things, from the old ones like Windows 95 to the newfangled Windows 10. I think I got Windows 10 on this here computer. It’s all so confusin’!
Now, I heard some folks talkin’ ’bout how they had trouble with ImgBurn on their Linux computers. Somethin’ about error messages. Sounds like a headache to me! I reckon if you’re gonna use this ImgBurn for Linux, you gotta know what you’re doin’. It ain’t as simple as clickin’ a button, like on Facebook.
- ImgBurn for Linux, they say it’s tricky.
- You gotta have a blank disc and a disc drive.
- Some folks say to change the file from IMG to ISO. Don’t ask me what that means!
My grandson, he uses somethin’ called Arch Linux. Sounds like somethin’ from the Bible, don’t it? He says he can’t get ImgBurn to work right on it. But then, he’s always tinkerin’ with his computer, tryin’ to make it do all sorts of fancy things. I just tell him to be careful he don’t break it!
Some folks say you don’t need to do anythin’ special to make a Ubuntu ISO bootable. Ubuntu, that’s another one of them Linux things. They say it’s already bootable. I don’t know what that means, but it sounds important. They say to just burn it at low speed. Like drivin’ slow through town, I reckon. Gotta be careful not to mess things up!
Now, if you’re tryin’ to make a bootable ISO image, that’s somethin’ else. Sounds complicated, don’t it? My grandson, he does that sometimes. He says he uses ImgBurn and clicks on some “advanced tab” and then somethin’ about “make image bootable.” I just nod and smile. I don’t understand half of what he says when he talks about computers!
They have guides, I seen ’em, long ones, ’bout how to burn them Linux ISO files. Beginner, experienced, they say. I’m neither, I just let the young’uns figure it out. They say you can use different methods. Sounds like bakin’ a pie, lots of ways to do it, I suppose.
One fella was talkin’ ’bout an .img file. I don’t know what that is. Said it was 621MB. That’s a lot of megabytes, ain’t it? I remember when a megabyte was a big deal. Now they got gigabytes and terabytes. It’s all too much for this old lady to keep up with! He wanted to burn it onto a CD. Said he wanted to do it under Linux. I reckon that’s possible, but I wouldn’t know where to start.
If you want ImgBurn to work on Linux, you might have to use some program named Wine. It ain’t the drinkin’ kind! It does somethin’ to let Windows programs work on Linux, that I heard. Don’t ask me how, though. Kids and their computers these days!
So, there you have it. That’s all I know about this ImgBurn for Linux. It’s somethin’ for them computer whiz kids, I reckon. Me, I’ll stick to my recipes and my Facebook. But if you’re gonna use it, be careful. And maybe ask your grandson for help. He probably knows more about it than I do!
