Alright, let’s talk about this internet thing, the one they say got cut off. They call it “Luzon internet cut update,” sounds fancy, but lemme tell ya, it ain’t pretty.
What happened, you ask? Well, it’s like this, storms came, big ones, like Kristine and Nika, they called ’em. Knocked down trees, messed up everything. And guess what? Those internet wires, they ain’t stronger than a good ol’ tree, no sir. They got pulled down, snapped like twigs. So, no more internet for a whole bunch of places.
They said it was in Southern Luzon and Visayas, places like Occidental Mindoro, Romblon, Albay, Sorsogon, and even Leyte. Twenty-one provinces they said! That’s a whole lotta places without their internet, imagine that! No Facebook, no nothin’. Just like the old days, but without the peace and quiet, just a whole lotta fussin’.
- Occidental Mindoro: They’re sayin’ they almost got it fixed there. Near complete, they say.
- Romblon: Same story, almost done. But “almost” ain’t done, is it?
- Albay and Sorsogon: They got hit too, those storms don’t play favorites. But they’re workin’ on it.
- Leyte: Poor folks over there got it bad too. Storm went right through, I reckon.
It wasn’t just the wind and rain, mind you. The power went out too. See, these internet thingamajigs, they need power, just like everything else these days. No power, no internet. Simple as that. They said it’s ’cause of “commercial power failure.” Sounds like a bigshot word for “no electricity” to me.
Now, they got these fellas, they call ’em “Globe crews.” They’re the ones climbin’ the poles, fixin’ the wires. Sounds like hard work. And they’re doin’ this “Oplan Kontra Putol” thing. Sounds important. Means they’re tryin’ to fix things fast, I guess. They’re workin’ with the local bosses, the “authorities” they call ’em. Gotta keep them happy, I suppose.
And they’re not just fixin’ things, they’re also doin’ good deeds. Givin’ folks free calls, lettin’ ’em charge their phones. That’s nice of ’em. ‘Cause when the power’s out, and the internet’s gone, you can’t even call your kin to see if they’re alright. It’s like being stranded on an island, but worse because you know there’s a world out there you can’t reach.
They say they’re making progress, getting the network back up in “key provinces.” That means the important places, I reckon. The places with all the fancy folks, probably. But what about the rest of us? We need our internet too, you know. How else am I gonna see pictures of my grandkids?
This whole internet thing, it’s a blessing and a curse, I tell ya. When it works, it’s great. You can talk to anyone, anywhere. See anything, anytime. But when it goes out, well, it’s like the world stops. You feel lost, disconnected. Like you’re missin’ somethin’ important.
So, when will it be fixed? That’s the million-dollar question, ain’t it? They’re workin’ hard, those Globe fellas, I’ll give ’em that. But Mother Nature, she’s a powerful force. And she don’t always cooperate. So, we gotta be patient, I guess. And pray for good weather.
In the meantime, maybe we can talk to each other face-to-face, like we used to. Remember that? Sit on the porch, drink some sweet tea, and just chat. Might not be as fast as the internet, but it’s real. And sometimes, that’s all that matters.
This whole “Luzon internet cut update” thing, it’s a mess. But they’re fixin’ it, slowly but surely. And hopefully, soon enough, we’ll all be back online, chattin’ away, like nothin’ ever happened. Until the next storm, that is.
Keeping an eye on the situation is important, they are always working on fixing it and keeping us in the loop, they are doing their best. We just gotta keep our chins up and wait it out. It ain’t the end of the world, even if it feels like it sometimes.
And that’s all I gotta say about that. Now, if you’ll excuse me, I gotta go check on my chickens. They don’t need no internet, thank goodness.
