Alright, so the other day, I needed to find a lawyer in Houston. Specifically, I was looking for this guy named Robert Mace, a civil litigation attorney. I wasn’t sure where to start, so I just dove into the internet.
First, I tried to figure out where he worked. Turns out, there’s a firm called Copeland Rice LLP, and he’s supposedly there. It’s a medium-sized place, around 25 to 40 people. I jotted that down – Copeland Rice LLP, got it.
Then, I wanted to get a sense of his experience. I found out that he graduated from the University of Texas with a B.B.A. in 1978 and then a J.D. in 1981. Seemed like he’s been around for a while. Another website indicated that he is now employed by Tekell, Book, Allen & Morris, L.L.P. Interesting, I thought he worked at Copeland Rice LLP, maybe he switched firms.
I also wanted to see what kind of cases he handles. Apparently, he’s into personal injury, business law, and other types of litigation. There was mention of “toxic tort” cases, which sounded pretty serious. I made a note of that – personal injury, general practice, and tort litigation. Seemed like he’s got a broad range of experience.
Next, I tried to find his contact information. One site listed an address at 1221 McKinney, Suite 4300, in Houston. Another one had a different address: 4119 Montrose Blvd., Suite 500. And another one listed LyondellBasell Tower at 1221 McKinney. I wrote down all three, figuring I’d sort it out later.
- 1221 McKinney, Suite 4300
- 4119 Montrose Blvd., Suite 500
- LyondellBasell Tower, 1221 McKinney, Suite 4300
I also stumbled upon something about checking a lawyer’s disciplinary record. I guess that’s a good idea, just to see if there have been any complaints. I didn’t really dig into that at the time, but I made a mental note to look into it if I decided to contact him.
At this point, I had a bunch of notes and was feeling a bit overwhelmed. There was a lot of information, some of it conflicting, and I wasn’t sure what to make of it all. But hey, at least I had a starting point. I figured I could always call around and verify the information later.
Key Findings
So, here’s what I gathered about C. Robert Mace:

I mean, at least now I know what he does and where he might be found. If I ever need a civil litigation lawyer in Houston, I guess I’ll add him to the list to consider.
