So, I’ve been trying to get Sims 4 Studio working on my Mac, and let me tell you, it’s been a bit of a journey. I wanted to share my experience in case anyone else is pulling their hair out over this.
First off, I downloaded Sims 4 Studio and tried to open it. It asked me to point it to the Sims 4 folder. Sounds simple enough, right? Wrong. I clicked around my Applications folder, thinking it would be there, but no dice. I was like, “Where is this darn folder?”
I started digging around, and realized I was looking in the wrong place entirely. Turns out, there are two Applications folders on a Mac. Who knew? One is in your user account and the other is directly in the Macintosh HD. But I still couldn’t find the application named TS4 in my application folder, so that it can be used normally in s4studio. My game works normally, I don’t know why.
Then I started getting my hands dirty, I searched the entire computer for a folder named Sims 4, and there were many, but they were all wrong. Some are in my user account, some are in Electronic Arts, and some are even on my external hard drive, because I play games there. But none of them can make s4studio work normally.
Finally, I realized that my game is installed on an external hard drive, so it should be in the same location as the game app. So I went to the User > Applications folder on the external hard drive, and voila! There it was. I pointed Sims 4 Studio to that folder, and it worked like a charm.
Here’s a quick rundown of what I did:
- Downloaded and installed Sims 4 Studio.
- Tried to locate the Sims 4 folder in the Applications folder within my user account. Nope!
- Searched for all folders named The Sims 4 on the computer and tried them out, but failed.
- Remembered that my game is installed on an external hard drive.
- Found the Sims 4 folder on the external hard drive under User > Applications.
- Pointed Sims 4 Studio to the correct folder, and success!
It was a bit of a wild goose chase, but I finally got there. Hope this helps someone else out there. It’s so satisfying when you finally figure these things out, isn’t it? Happy simming!
