So, today, like any other day, I sat down at my desk, ready to dive into my work. I opened my laptop, clicked on my browser, and… nothing. My internet was down. It’s always a pain when this happens, right? Especially since I rely on the internet for practically everything these days.
First, I checked my other devices. My phone, my tablet – all the same story. No connection. Okay, so it wasn’t just my laptop. Next, I looked at my router. All the lights were blinking as usual, which gave me a little hope. Maybe it was just a temporary glitch, I thought.
I unplugged the power cable from the router, you know, the good old “turn it off and on again” trick. I waited for a solid thirty seconds, just to be sure. Then I plugged it back in and waited some more. It took a few minutes for the router to boot back up – felt like an eternity, to be honest. I was crossing my fingers, hoping this would solve the problem.
- Unplugged the power cable.
- Waited for 30 seconds.
- Plugged it back in.
Meanwhile, I found out from somewhere that Sonic, my internet provider, sometimes posts updates about major outages on their website. There was also a Twitter account mentioned, @sonic_status. So, I grabbed my phone and checked both, using my mobile data, of course. But there was nothing there. No announcements, no reports, just radio silence.
Trying to fix it.
After waiting for what felt like forever, the router finally finished booting up. I eagerly checked my devices again, but still nothing. No internet. I was starting to get a bit frustrated at this point. I mean, I had deadlines to meet, emails to send, and here I was, stuck in the digital dark ages.
I decided to call Sonic’s customer support. I found their number online, but guess what? They were closed! Apparently, they close early on certain days and have specific hours on holidays. It was one of those days. Can you believe it? Of all the days for my internet to go down, it had to be on a day when customer support was unavailable.
So, here I am, still without internet. I’ve tried everything I can think of, but nothing seems to work. It’s incredibly frustrating, especially since I don’t even know what’s causing the problem. Is it just me, or is it a bigger issue on Sonic’s end? I guess I’ll have to wait until their support is back online to find out.
Anyway, that’s my internet outage saga for today. Hopefully, it’ll be resolved soon. Until then, I’m stuck in this offline limbo.
Update: Fixed by myself. I just unplugged and plugged a few more times and it seemed to work, haha. It’s a little annoying but at least the internet is back.
