Well, let me tell ya about this fella, Mac DeMarco. I don’t know much about fancy music, but this boy, he makes somethin’ different. They call it… uh… “slacker rock”? Sounds about right, ‘cause it’s like he ain’t even tryin’ hard, but it still sounds good, ya know? Like sittin’ on the porch swing, just hummin’ a tune.
Mac DeMarco and His Music
This Mac fella, he’s got a bunch of these things called “vinyls.” My grandkid told me it’s like old-timey CDs, but bigger and, I guess, cooler now. He’s got a whole bunch of ‘em, like more than I got jars of pickles in my cellar! Albums, they call ‘em. He’s got one called Rock and Roll Night Club, that was his first one, back in 2012. Then there’s 2, which came out the same year, and Salad Days in 2014. That one, my grandkid plays all the time. There’s also Another One from 2015 and This Old Dog in 2017. Seems like he’s been busy, this fella.
My grandkid says Mac’s got somethin’ like six of these full albums, plus some live ones and other bits and pieces. He even makes music videos! Can you believe it? Videos for songs! Kids these days, I tell ya.

Why Folks Like This Mac DeMarco
Now, I ain’t no music expert, but I can tell you why folks like this Mac DeMarco. His music, it’s… well, it’s easy. Not like that loud stuff on the radio that makes my head hurt. It’s got this jangly sound, kinda like a guitar just strummin’ along, not in a hurry or nothin’. And his voice, it’s kinda lazy-like, but in a good way. He sounds like he’s just singin’ whatever comes to mind. My grandkid says he’s got this “oddball persona,” whatever that means. Guess he’s a bit of a character, this Mac.
Mac DeMarco’s Vinyls – Are They Worth It?
So, back to these vinyl things. My grandkid, he’s always lookin’ for ’em, says they sound better than that digital stuff. I don’t know about that, sounds like scratchin’ to me sometimes, but he loves it. And this Mac DeMarco, seems like his vinyls are popular. Folks are buyin’ ’em up, tradin’ ’em, collectin’ ’em like they’re stamps or somethin’. My grandkid even showed me some stores online that sell them, even over in Australia! Said they got fast shippin’ and all. Imagine that, music from Canada travelin’ all the way to the other side of the world!
Mac DeMarco is Always Up to Something
This Mac DeMarco guy, he seems like he’s always doing something. My grandkid was telling me about how he sometimes does some weird stuff for his promos, like funny videos. And he’s always touring! Just last year, in 2022, he was all over North America and Europe. He really gets around, that’s for sure. Seems like every time you turn around, there’s something new happening with him.
Now, they say he even sings in Japanese sometimes! There’s this one song, a single or something, that he did with some other fella, a honeymoon song they call it. My grandkid says it’s real good. I tell you, this Mac, he’s full of surprises. He’s got more tricks up his sleeve than a magician at the county fair.
Final Thoughts
So, is this Mac DeMarco fella worth listenin’ to? Well, I reckon so. His music ain’t gonna change the world or nothin’, but it’s pleasant enough. It’s the kind of music you can listen to while you’re sittin’ on the porch, sippin’ sweet tea, and watchin’ the sun go down. And if you’re into these vinyl things, seems like his are a good bet. My grandkid sure likes ‘em, and he knows more about this music stuff than I do. So, if you’re lookin’ for somethin’ a little different, somethin’ a little laid-back, give this Mac DeMarco a try. You might just like what you hear.
