My grandson, he’s always messin’ with them computers. He told me to write somethin’ about this here “Linux Mint reset system loop” thing. Says it’ll help folks out. Well, I don’t know much about these fancy machines, but I’ll tell ya what I heard.
So, this Linux Mint, it’s like that Windows thing, but different, he says. And sometimes, it gets all messed up. Like when you’re bakin’ a cake and you forget the sugar, it just ain’t right. This here “reset system loop”, it’s like the computer is stuck, tryin’ to start up but can’t quite make it. Just keeps goin’ round and round, like a dog chasin’ its tail.
I heard some folks talkin’ about this the other day. One fella, he upgraded his computer to somethin’ called “LM 21.1”. Said he got a new “kernel,” whatever that is. Like a kernel of corn, I reckon? Anyway, he had to restart the computer, you know, turn it off and on again. But it wouldn’t come back on properly. Just showed a picture, a logo, and then a blue screen, with a blinkin’ light. He was stuck in that “reset system loop”.
Another fella, he had an Acer laptop, you know, those thin ones. He said his was stuck too, after a reboot. Had a message sayin’ “Reset System” in the corner. He tried puttin’ in somethin’ called “Ubuntu,” but that didn’t fix it neither. Sounds like a right mess, if you ask me.
- One time, someone did somethin’ and got stuck on a black screen. They restarted it, but nothin’. Like when the power goes out, and you’re sittin’ in the dark.
- They said somethin’ about checkin’ the “BIOS settings” and runnin’ a “system check”. And somethin’ about “reinstalling the boot loader”. Sounds complicated to me. Like tryin’ to fix that old tractor out back.
I heard about a Lenovo desktop, one of them boxy ones. Someone put Linux Mint on it. But after they took out the “installer USB,” which is like a little memory stick, I guess, and rebooted, it got stuck too. Just like that Acer fella.
And then there’s this HP Elitebook, another one of them fancy laptops. Someone put Linux Mint 21.3 on it, the latest one, I suppose. But after installin’, it got into that loop too. Seems like this Linux Mint, it’s got a mind of its own sometimes.
My grandson, he showed me somethin’ called “login loop” one time. He typed in his password, and the screen went black, and then back to the same place where he had to type the password again. Just kept doin’ that over and over. That’s what happened to someone else after rebooting his laptop and booting into Linux Mint 19.1. They put the password in at login, then the screen goes black and it takes them right back to login. He was stuck in that “login loop”.
One person said their computer was stuck on an infinite “Reset System” loop when they tried to boot it up. He had windows 10 and Ubuntu 20.04.3 LTS on his Acer laptop. They said holdin’ down the “Shift” key or tappin’ the “Esc” key might help. Then you gotta pick somethin’ called “Advanced options” and then “recovery mode.”
There’s somethin’ called “Boot-Repair,” too. It’s a tool, like a wrench or a hammer, but for computers. It’s supposed to fix these “boot” problems by puttin’ somethin’ called “GRUB” back in. And that’s supposed to fix the whole linux mint stuck issue, this boot loop problem, especially this reset system loop.
My grandson also told me to mention “Boot-Repair.” It’s a thingy that can fix these problems. Like a magic trick, almost. It puts somethin’ called “GRUB” back where it belongs, and that usually fixes it. It’s supposed to bring the other systems back that you had before the trouble started. It also has fancy “advanced options” to add “kernel options”.
These computers, they’re somethin’ else. One minute they’re workin’ fine, the next they’re stuck in a loop, showin’ blue screens or just blackness. It’s enough to make your head spin. I reckon sometimes you just gotta turn ’em off, unplug ’em, and let ’em sit for a spell. Maybe that’ll help ’em get their thinkin’ straight. And always remember to back up the important things! Or you will lose everything!
Anyways, that’s all I know about this “Linux Mint reset system loop”. Hope it helps somebody out there. If not, well, I tried my best. These computers ain’t always easy to understand, but that’s what the young folks are for, I guess. They seem to know all about these things. And if you ever got a problem like this reset system loop on your computer, go find someone who knows more than me! They may say reinstalling the whole system is the only way to fix it.
