Alright, so, I’ve been messing around with this thing called Tube Vanced on my iPhone for a while now. It’s like this modified version of the regular app, but supposedly way better. No ads, background playback, the works. I was pretty pumped to get it working.
I started by searching around online, trying to figure out how to even get this thing on my phone. Turns out, it’s not as simple as just downloading it from the App Store. You gotta do some digging. Found a few articles and videos talking about it, and I felt like I was getting into some secret underground club or something.
I found out that first I need this “Vanced Manager” thing. I managed to download it. It’s basically like an installer for the modified app. Opened it up and saw it had options for installing the app and something called “MicroG.”
Now, MicroG, that was a new one for me. From what I gathered, it’s like a sidekick app that helps Vanced work properly. It handles some background stuff so the main app can do its thing. So, I installed that first, following the on-screen prompts. Felt like a real tech whiz doing all this.
After that, I went back to the Vanced Manager and installed the actual app. The process was pretty smooth. It downloaded and installed without a hitch. I was starting to feel pretty good about this whole thing. Once it was done, I eagerly opened up the app, ready to experience ad-free bliss.
But then, bam! It wouldn’t work. Videos wouldn’t load, or the app would just crash. I was like, “What the heck?” I tried restarting my phone, thinking maybe that would magically fix it. Nope. Still nothing.
I started getting frustrated. I spent all this time figuring out how to install this thing, and it doesn’t even work? So, I started troubleshooting. First thing I did was go into my phone’s settings, found the App info for Vanced, and cleared the cache and data. The articles I read said that could sometimes fix issues like this. Didn’t work though.
Then I checked my internet connection. Maybe my Wi-Fi was being wonky. Nope, internet was fine. Tried switching to mobile data, just in case. Still no luck.
Then I remembered reading something about updates. Maybe the app or MicroG was outdated. So, I went back to the Vanced Manager and checked for updates. Sure enough, there were updates available for both. I installed them, feeling hopeful. But even after the updates, the app still wouldn’t work right.
After reading some more articles, I found out that the Vanced project has been discontinued. Turns out, there’s this new thing called “ReVanced” that’s supposed to be the replacement. And apparently, the old MicroG that Vanced used doesn’t work anymore either.
So, after all that, it seems like Tube Vanced is pretty much dead on iOS, at least for now. Bummer.
- Tried installing Tube Vanced on my iPhone.
- Downloaded Vanced Manager and installed MicroG.
- Installed the app through Vanced Manager.
- App wouldn’t work, videos wouldn’t load, crashes.
- Cleared cache and data, checked internet connection.
- Updated the app and MicroG.
- Found out Vanced is discontinued, ReVanced is the new thing.
- Old MicroG doesn’t work anymore.
It was a fun little adventure, I guess, but in the end, it didn’t work out the way I wanted. Maybe I’ll look into this ReVanced thing later, but for now, I’m just gonna stick with the regular app, ads and all. Oh well.
