Well, howdy there! Let’s talk about this “virgin no internet” thing. Sounds fancy, but it just means your internet ain’t workin’, and you’re kinda new to this whole thing, like a, you know, a “virgin” to it.
First off, don’t you go frettin’. This happens to the best of us. Even them city slickers with their fancy gadgets get their internet knocked out sometimes. It ain’t the end of the world, I tell ya.
Now, the first thing you gotta do is check them wires. Yeah, those little snakey things that go in and out of that box, the one they call a “hub” or a “router” or some such nonsense. Make sure they’re all snug and tight. Sometimes, them little rascals get loose, and then, poof! No internet. Kids these days, they just yank ’em out, not careful at all.
- Push them wires in good. Don’t be shy, give ’em a good shove.
- If that don’t work, try unplugging that box, wait a bit, then plug it back in. Like when the TV gets all fuzzy, you gotta turn it off and on again. Same thing here. They say wait thirty seconds, but I always wait a good minute, just to be sure. Patience is a virtue, they say.
Okay, so you did all that, and still no internet? Don’t go throwin’ that box out the window just yet. Let’s try somethin’ else.
See, sometimes, it ain’t your fault. It’s them internet fellas, the ones you pay every month. They might be havin’ some trouble on their end. Maybe a storm knocked somethin’ down, or maybe a squirrel chewed through a wire. Them squirrels, they’re always causin’ trouble.
So, you gotta call them up. Find that number they gave ya, the one you probably threw in a drawer somewhere. And don’t you let them give you no runaround. Tell ’em your internet’s out, and you need it fixed, pronto! You’re payin’ good money for it, after all. Don’t let them fool ya with all that technical mumbo-jumbo.
Now, sometimes, the problem is with your device. That phone, or that computer, or whatever you’re usin’ to get on the internet. Maybe it’s just bein’ stubborn. Try restartin’ it. Turn it off, wait a bit, then turn it back on. Sounds simple, but it works more often than you’d think. Like a good nap, it can fix a lot of problems.
And if it’s just one device, not all of them, that’s a clue. It probably ain’t the internet itself, it’s just that one gadget actin’ up. Maybe it needs an update, or maybe it’s just got a case of the Mondays.
Another thing them city folks talk about is DNS settings and IP addresses. Sounds complicated, I know. But basically, it’s like your house address. If the internet don’t know your address, it can’t send you no mail, or in this case, no cat videos.
But don’t you go messin’ with them settings unless you know what you’re doin’. You could make things worse. That’s somethin’ you might need to call them internet fellas for help with. They got folks who know all about that stuff. Just tell them you got “no internet connection” and they should take care of the rest.
And if they tell you to check your Wi-Fi settings, well, that’s just makin’ sure your device is talkin’ to your internet box. Make sure your Wi-Fi is turned on and you’re connected to the right network. It’s like makin’ sure you’re tunin’ into the right radio station.
So, there you have it. A few things you can try when your “virgin no internet” situation hits. Just remember, stay calm, check them wires, restart your stuff, and if all else fails, call them internet fellas. They’ll get you back online eventually. And if they don’t, well, sometimes it’s nice to just sit on the porch and watch the world go by, no internet needed.
And remember, if they try to sell you some fancy upgrade you don’t need, you tell them “No thank you! I just need my internet working, not some fancy new doo-dad I don’t understand.” Stand your ground, I say.
Lastly, don’t forget to ask your neighbors if their internet is working. If theirs is out too, then you know it’s a bigger problem and not just you. Misery loves company, they say, but in this case, it’s helpful information.
And remember to compare them internet plans every now and then. Them city folks got websites to check prices. Don’t get stuck paying too much, now. Shop around, just like you do for a good watermelon at the market.
