Okay, so I needed to set up a virtual machine on my Windows 10 computer. I’ve heard good things about VMware Workstation, so I decided to give it a try. I’m going to walk you through the whole process, just like I did it.
First, I launched my browser. Then, I typed in “VMware Workstation download” into the search bar. Many results pop-up, and I clicked into the official website of VMware.
Downloading the Installer
- After navigating to the page, I found the download section for VMware Workstation Player.
- Clicked on the download button for the Windows version.
- The download started automatically, and I just had to wait for the file, named something like “VMware-player-full”, to finish downloading.
Running the Installer
- Once the download was complete, I went to my “Downloads” folder and double-clicked the installer file.
- The installer launched, and a User Account Control (UAC) prompt appeared. I clicked “Yes” to allow it to make changes.
- The installation wizard started. I followed the on-screen instructions.
- Clicked “Next” a few times, accepted the license agreement.
- I choose the default installation location, but you can change it if you want.
- Decided whether I wanted to check for product updates on startup and join the VMware Customer Experience Improvement Program. You can choose whatever you prefer here.
- Then, it asked me about shortcuts. I just left the default options to create shortcuts on the Desktop and in the Start Menu.
- Finally, I clicked “Install” to begin the actual installation.
Waiting for Installation
- The installation process took a few minutes. I just sat back and watched the progress bar.
Finishing Up
- After the installation was done, I clicked “Finish”.
- Some versions might ask you to restart your computer, but mine didn’t.
Launching VMware Workstation Player
- I located the VMware Workstation Player shortcut on my desktop and double-clicked it.
- The application opened without a hitch, showing the main interface. I can see some options to create a new virtual machine.
- I just download the Windows 10 ISO file from somewhere. Then I can use it to create a new virtual machine. It is easy.
That’s it! VMware Workstation Player was successfully installed on my Windows 10 machine. Now I can create and run virtual machines. Pretty straightforward, right?
