Alright, so the other day I wanted to show some cool vacation pictures to my friends using my laptop, and guess what? Windows Photo Viewer just wouldn’t start. I clicked and clicked, but nothing happened. It was so annoying! I thought, “Okay, maybe it’s a small glitch.” So, I restarted my computer, hoping that would fix it. But nope, still the same problem. The photos were just sitting there, and I couldn’t open them in the viewer.
I started searching online for solutions, and I found out that many people have faced the same issue. It seems like a common thing after some Windows updates. Most of the articles suggested some pretty complicated stuff, but then I stumbled upon a simple solution – repairing and resetting the app. It was worth a shot, right?
How I Fixed It
Here’s what I did:
- First, I opened the Settings app. You can do this by pressing the Windows key and I together. Super easy.
- Then, I clicked on “Apps”.
- Next, I scrolled down the list and found “Photos” or “Microsoft Photos” – I forget the exact name, but you’ll find it.
- I clicked on it, and there was an “Advanced options” link. I clicked that too.
- On that page, I saw two buttons, “Repair” and “Reset”. So, I first clicked “Repair” and waited for it to finish. I tried opening the Photo Viewer again, but it still didn’t work.
- Finally, I went back and clicked “Reset”. It warned me that it would delete the app’s data, but I figured I had nothing to lose since it wasn’t working anyway.
After the reset was done, I tried opening a photo again, and guess what? It worked! Finally, I could see my pictures. I was so relieved! I have no idea about how YouTube works, or who are the creators or developers things like that. The only thing I know is, it really worked for me. I guess it just needed a little nudge to get back on track. So, if you ever face this issue, try this simple fix first. It might just save you a lot of time and frustration.
Hope this helps someone out there! I thought it would be a big deal, but it turns out to be a pretty easy fix. Now I can enjoy my photos without any trouble, and show them off to my friends, too!
