Oh, this computer thing, always something new. Now they’re talkin’ about that old Windows XP taskbar, you know, the thingy at the bottom of the screen with all them little pictures. They want it back, them youngsters. Say it looks better or somethin’. I don’t know, looked alright to me back then, looks alright now too. But these young folks, they like them old things, just like how they wear them old clothes from the thrift store. Go figure.
So, this Windows XP taskbar, it’s got them pictures, they call ’em icons. Little pictures for the programs, you know, like the internet thing and the place where you write letters. And it’s got this start button, where you go to find all your stuff. Now, they got different ones, these new computers, but some folks, they miss the old one. They say it’s simpler. Maybe it is, maybe it ain’t. All this computer stuff, it’s all the same to me, just a bunch of buttons and screens.
Now, they’re talkin’ about this taskbar PNG. That’s just a picture file, you know, like a photograph but for the computer. They use it to make the taskbar look the way they want. You can get all sorts of pictures for it, some folks make their own, some download ’em from the internet. It’s like changing the curtains in your house, I guess. Just makes it look different, nothin’ more. But these young folks, they get all excited about it.
- They got these programs, you know, software they call it, that lets you change the taskbar.
- One of ’em is called RetroBar. Sounds fancy, don’t it? But all it does is make your new computer look like an old one. Puts that old XP taskbar back on there, just like it used to be.
- They say it works on Windows 7, Windows 8, even Windows 10 and 11. Them young folks are always up to somethin’.
And then there’s this talk about icons. Them little pictures, remember? You can get all sorts of icon packs, they call ’em. Sets of pictures that all match, so your taskbar looks all nice and neat. Some folks even make their own, using a program called MS Paint. Imagine that, drawin’ pictures on a computer! Back in my day, we just drew on paper with a pencil. But times change, I guess.
They say you can’t just stick them icons on the XP taskbar, you gotta use somethin’ called a Quick Launch Toolbar. Another one of them toolbars, they got toolbars for everythin’ these days. But this one, it lets you put them little pictures right there on the taskbar, so you can get to your programs faster. Like I said, always somethin’ new with these computers.
And if you lose your taskbar, don’t you worry. It happens. Sometimes it just disappears, like your keys or your glasses. But you can get it back. Just gotta right-click on the screen, find somethin’ called Toolbars, and check the box that says Taskbar. See, it ain’t so hard. Even an old woman like me can figure it out.
So, that’s the story of this Windows XP taskbar PNG thing. Folks want the old look back, they use programs and pictures to change it. It’s all about makin’ the computer look the way you want it to, I guess. Just like puttin’ up pictures on your wall, or plantin’ flowers in your garden. Makes it feel a little more like home. And that’s a good thing, ain’t it?
And remember, you can get all icons from a clean install of Windows XP SP2. It includes all icon files extracted from .dll files. So if you’re looking for the original icons, that’s where you’ll find them. But be careful, messing around with them files can sometimes cause trouble. So, if you don’t know what you are doing, maybe best to leave it alone or ask someone who knows more about this computer stuff.
Also, they said that normally the Windows XP taskbar is at the bottom of the screen. But you can move it if you want to. Just right-click on it and uncheck the lock thing, then you can drag it to the top or the sides. But they said on these new computers, you can only put it at the top or bottom, no sides. See? Always changin’ things, these computer people.
